A group of international students from Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Kenya and other countries tried their hands at making zongzi in a residential community in Jiangsu province on June 3.
Zongzi, also known as glutinous rice dumplings, is a traditional Chinese food served during Dragon Boat Festival. It is made of steamed glutinous rice wrapped in reed leaves.
Under the guidance of experienced zongzi-makers and local residents, the international students learned to make zongzi for the first time, cupping the leaf in one hand while putting rice into it with the other hand.
Both the students and local residents enjoyed the community activities, through which they experienced the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
