On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new cases of confirmed infections (8 imported cases, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province; 8 indigenous cases in Guangdong), 11 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 12 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 604 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,173 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,885 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 288 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on June 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,316 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,267 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 413 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases. 1,032,227 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,987 were still under medical observation.
On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on June 8, 361 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 338 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 8, 23,613 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,868 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,584 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 11,694 in Taiwan (308 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
