On May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new cases of confirmed infections (12 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Jiangsu province; 11 indigenous cases in Guangdong), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), and no deaths. 14 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 456 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,063 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,774 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 289 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,122 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,149 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 337 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,025,453 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,182 were still under medical observation.
On May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (13 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on May 31, 391 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 356 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 31, 20,403 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,841 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,572 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,511 in Taiwan (124 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
