Economy
Known as "the birthplace of a dynasty and two emperors", Shenyang boasts a proud history. It has three UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites as well as more than 1,500 historic and cultural relics. Shenyang is also an important industrial center in China and is the core city of Shenyang Economic Zone. It has focused on heavy industry - particularly aerospace, machine tools, heavy equipment and defense. It has many advantageous industries such as automobile and component manufacturing, IC equipment, information, biomedical, modern agriculture sectors. In 2018, Shenyang recorded GDP of 635 billion yuan ($93.68 billion), an increase of 5 percent.
To date, Shenyang has developed economic and trade relations with 188 countries and regions. It also has attracted $42.8 billion of foreign investment and 76 out of the Fortune Global 500 companies invest and operate 112 projects in Shenyang.
Administrative divisions
Shenyang city governs one county-level city - Xinmin, two counties - Faku county and Kangping county; and 10 districts - Heping district, Tiexi district, Hunnan district, Dadong district, Yuhong district, Sujiatun district, Huanggu district, Shenhe district, Liaozhong district and Shenbei new district.
