May 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new cases of confirmed infections (7 imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Henan province; 20 indigenous cases in Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 542 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.
As of 24:00 on May 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,051 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,761 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 290 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,099 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,135 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 328 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,024,783 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,969 were still under medical observation.
On May 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (16 imported cases; 3 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 16 (indigenous cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 30, 400 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 366 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 30, 20,048 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,837 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,572 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,160 in Taiwan (109 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
