On May 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province; 2 indigenous cases in Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 14 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 331 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on May 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,033 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,740 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 293 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,061 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,107 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 318 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,023,485 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,822 were still under medical observation.
On May 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (6 imported cases; 8 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on May 28, 403 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 364 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 28, 19,202 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,836 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,570 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 7,315 in Taiwan (78 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
