May 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 7 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Guangdong province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 540 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on May 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,019 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,728 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 291 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,045 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,093 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 316 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,022,850 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,518 were still under medical observation.
On May 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 26 new asymptomatic cases (21 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases in Guangdong). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 27, 405 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 373 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 27, 18,648 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,836 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,565 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,761 in Taiwan (59 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
