May 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 2 indigenous cases in Anhui province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 21 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 202 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,983 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,694 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 289 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,006 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,051 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 319 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,020,846 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,980 were still under medical observation.
On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (16 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Anhui and 1 in Guangdong province). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on May 24, 389 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 363 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 24, 16,801 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,833 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,556 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 51 in Macao (49 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 4,917 in Taiwan (29 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
