The late Chinese agronomist Yuan Longping (1930-2021), who just passed away, helped feed the world by making breakthroughs in developing hybrid rice varieties. He was also an honorary curator of the Longping Rice Museum.
Opened in 2019, the museum in Hunan province is the world’s first large-scale rice museum. It showcases China’s rice history and culture, rice planting technologies, and the hybrid rice varieties developed by Yuan.
