In the era of mobile payment, domestic residents and expats living and working in China have already gotten used to paying via WeChat Pay, Alipay, Union Pay and other online payment tools.
Foreigners on short trips to China, however, are unable to enjoy such convenience as they cannot link these platforms to their foreign bank cards.
As Suzhou is home to a large number of Japanese and South Korean enterprises, the local government recently worked with the Bank of Suzhou to develop the "Su-Pay" application to serve short-term travelers from the two countries.
"Su-Pay" provides these short-term travelers in Suzhou with automatic and online Chinese electronic account services, with the help of technologies such as living body recognition, optical character recognition, anti-fraud, and big data.
Based on the online clearing services of their foreign cards, the users can top up their Chinese accounts online all by themselves. They can also link their Chinese "Su-Pay" accounts with popular mobile payment methods like Union Pay, WeChat Pay and Alipay.
Real-time monitoring and automatic control through Su-Pay's mobile application can analyze users' behaviors and ensure the safety of their accounts.
