Tongchuan city located in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, staged a high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials industry promotion during the ongoing 5th Silk Road International Exposition that opened on May 11 in the provincial capital city Xi'an.
Through the promotion, the city aims to maximize the use of its resources, scientific research and market advantages. The goal is to accelerate its industrial transformation and upgrading -- as well as its high-quality development -- and make a greater contribution to the development of the province.
Li Zhiyuan, mayor of Tongchuan, told the presentation that the city's manufacturing industry was the bedrock of its real economy and it provided fundamental support to create strategic advantages for its future development.
"In recent years, the city has actively integrated into the national strategic plan -- Made in China 2025 -- and it has expanded its high-end equipment manufacturing industry," he said.
It has also promoted the new materials industry, to accelerate the high-quality comprehensive transformation and development of its industrial ecosystem, the mayor added.
At a ceremony held afterwards, a total of 18 projects planned in the city were signed, worth a total of 28.35 billion yuan ($4.41 billion).
