As a tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China, the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival will set a special sector to take a retrospective of China's rise over the past century.
With the theme "the red light and shadow will look back over the journey of the past 100 years", the sector will screen a number of critically acclaimed domestic films during the festival, which will be held between June 11 and 20.
As a practice to ensure the safety and implementation of COVID-19 preventive measures, the festival will be held in person and remotely, with its master class activities primarily streamed online to connect domestic audience members and foreign masters.
As one of the festival's highlights, this year's sector will pay a tribute to some of world's greatest filmmakers will release works by Italian composer Ennio Morricone, Hungarian director Miklos Jancso, French filmmaker Chris Marker and Japanese director Masahiro Shinoda.
A total of 400 movies will be screened during the Shanghai film festival.
Besides, the 27th Shanghai TV Festival will be held between June 6 and 10, drawing nearly 900 TV dramas from 40 countries and regions with most of them submitted to contend for the festival's top honor, the Magnolia Awards.
The jury panel with Chinese director Liu Jin as the chairman also includes actors Tao Hong and Tong Dawei for Chinese TV dramas, as well as French director Vassili Clert and Spanish producer Pilar Jimenez for international TV dramas.
