May 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (9 imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province; 5 indigenous cases, 3 in Anhui province and 2 in Liaoning), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 20 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 351 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.As of 24:00 on May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,824 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,572 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 252 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,829 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,914 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 279 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,014,401 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,613 were still under medical observation.

On May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases (15 imported cases; 10 indigenous cases, 7 in Anhui and 3 in Liaoning). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 14, 341 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 326 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 14, 13,157 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,818 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,516 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,290 in Taiwan (12 had died and 1,107 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
