New Live in China to feature classic and new theatrical productions

Four concerts by London Symphony Orchestra will be screened at cinemas across the country as part of the new season of a theater program, New Live in China, launched by Beijing-based ATW Culture. One of the concerts will be conducted by Sir Simon Rattle at the St. Luke's Church in London, featuring Beethoven's Symphony No.5, in an effort to commemorate the composer's 250th anniversary.

The new season of New Live in China, now in its seventh year, will see 38 international theatrical productions, including ballet, plays, and operas.

BalletBoyz, an-all male modern dance troupe from the UK, will perform the troupe's three dance pieces - Life, Fourteen Days and Them/Us. David Gilmour Live At Pompeii, an audio-visual spectacle will also be featured, and artist Nick Cave will perform his songs he wrote during the lockdown in Idiot Prayer - Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace in London.

Besides new productions, 29 classic theatrical productions will be screened, including Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice featuring award-winning actress Patsy Ferran, Giselle, a classic ballet production by the Royal Ballet and Macbeth by the Royal Opera.

By May 2021, 168 theatrical productions have been screened as part of the New Live in China program in 45 cities across the country, attracting more than 600,000 audiences in total.
