East China's Jiangsu province launched a week-long employment promotional event for college graduates on May 9, as the number of fresh graduates in the province has reached a record high of more than 600,000, local media outlets reported.
A total of 154 leading industrial companies offered more than 7,000 jobs to college graduates, covering 10 popular fields such as electronic information, human resources and marketing design.
A doctoral graduate said that she was looking for jobs in telecommunications and integrated circuit design, while another graduate said that she hopes to work in the Yangtze River Delta region because it is one of China's most developed areas.
Jiang Zhifei, the campus recruitment manager of telecom equipment maker ZTE, said that the company is in need of students majoring in microelectronics and integrated circuits to meet its growing need for chips.
"Our company has targeted talent cultivation plans and hopes to recruit the most excellent students, who can grow into technological or management professionals within three years," Jiang said.
The province also plans to organize three month-long themed career planning activities for college graduates in the near future.
The event was organized by Jiangsu's provincial department of education, as well as its human resources and social security departments.
