In this season of blooming flowers International Cultural Exchange School (ICES) of Donghua University (DHU) has welcomed nearly 300 passionate international students from over 58 countries into our leading General Chinese Language Program.
This semester, some students are able to enjoy classroom learning on the Donghua campus, while others are still studying Chinese online in their home countries. Wherever you are and whatever form of learning you are following ICES strives to provide you with rich learning resources and outstanding support.
In the coming 2021 fall semester, ICES will continue to offer Chinese language programs in the classroom as well as online. We are looking forward to meeting you in class!
Program Information
Schedule
September 6, 2021 — January 7, 2022 (18 weeks)
Every Monday to Friday (Total class hours: 320 hours)
Course Plan
Classroom Learning: Beijing time 9:00-12:15
Online Learning: 3 hours per day (2-hour live classes and 1-hour self-study on recorded learning materials.)
Class time will be arranged before instruction starts based on the students' situation and teaching plan.
Different Levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced. (Minimum class size is eight students.)
Students have to take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency, and they will be divided into different levels based on test results. Placement test information will be emailed before semester starts. In the first week, students are allowed to change the course level within a specific timeframe.
Learning Materials: Self-compiled textbooks and "Chinese in Real Life" will be used in both classroom and online courses. Meanwhile, ICES will provide various Chinese learning materials such as keywords, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audios and course summaries. Learning materials, as well as assignments, will be uploaded to the learning management platform. Both online and offline students can review them at any time.
Fee
Admission fee: CNY 400
Tuition: CNY 10,200 (includes textbook fee)
Other Matters
Visa
Classroom: Documents for student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application will be provided.
Online: Documents for student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application will NOT be provided.
Dormitory
Classroom: Students can apply for campus accommodation based on available capacity. If the reservation is confirmed, please check in during the designated time as required.
Online: The university will NOT offer accommodation services or documents.
Refund
Application fee: Non-refundable;
Tuition:
Full refund: study terminated before instruction starts. 50 percent refund: study terminated in the first week of study. NO refund will be provided after the second week of study.
Attention!
Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, students will be allowed to enter the campus only if they follow the epidemic control policies and regulations of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Donghua University.

- Your visa page is also required if you apply for classroom courses.

* New applicants recommended by international students who have studied in Donghua before will enjoy an application fee waiver. The full name of the referrer is needed.
* Students who continue the study will enjoy an application fee waiver and tuition deductions.
Admission:
Your application will be officially evaluated. If you are admitted, you will receive a notification email with the relevant information on the online placement test and enrollment affairs of the new semester.
Please ensure that you complete the online placement test on time. Students studying in classrooms are also required to submit documents for entering the campus on time.
