Jilin's holiday tourism revenue hits 8.46b yuan

Northeast China's Jilin province reported a rebound in its tourism sector, with tourism revenue during the recent five-day holiday hitting 8.46 billion yuan ($1.31 billion), a year-on-year growth of 106.34 percent.

Tourists made a total of 7.95 million visits on May 1-5 to the province, up 79.31 percent.

Some 69 scenic spots above the national 4A level received a total of 1.91 million visits, generating income of 170 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 281.96 percent and 188.05 percent respectively.

The biggest hit was the Changbai Mountains Scenic Area during the period, which posted a year-on-year increase in visitors of 1,172 percent, with tourism revenue increasing by 813 percent.

Rural tourism in the province reportedly saw a boom during the holiday break.

A total of 72 rural tourism business ventures with national 4A or 5A level credentials received 712,700 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 170.17 percent, generating income of 20.74 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 257.69 percent.

Tourism expenditure reportedly recovered rapidly during the period. The average stay of tourists was 2.14 days and the average expenditure per person came in at 1,010.84 yuan.
