Foreign trade jumps 28.5% to $2t in four months

China's foreign trade amounted to 11.62 trillion yuan ($1.79 trillion) in the first four months of this year, up 28.5 percent year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

The country's exports soared 33.8 percent on a yearly basis to 6.32 trillion yuan from January to April, while its imports jumped 22.7 percent year-on-year to 5.3 trillion yuan. Its trade surplus surged 149.7 percent on a yearly basis to 1.02 billion yuan.

China's total foreign trade expanded 26.6 percent year-on-year to 3.15 trillion yuan in April. In US dollar terms, its imports grew at the fastest pace in April, since January 2011, Customs data showed.

The nation's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations reached 1.72 trillion yuan between January and April, an increase of 27.6 percent on a yearly basis, while trade with the European Union rose 32.1 percent to 1.63 trillion yuan.

In the meantime, the goods trade value between China and the United States grew 50.3 percent year-on-year to 1.44 trillion yuan.
