Northeast China's Jilin province has recorded improvements to its economy and in its people's standard of living, with major indicators showing growth so far this year, according to a report in the Jilin Daily.

Since the start of the year, animal husbandry production in the province has continued to improve, price trends have been generally stable, residents' incomes have grown steadily -- and the general economy and standard of living for locals in key areas have developed well.

In the first quarter, the province's consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.2 percent year-on-year. Within the Q1, the CPI in March increased by 0.4 percent year-on-year and decreased by 0.6 percent from the previous month.

Residents' incomes, meanwhile, have increased steadily and retail spending has resumed growth.

In the first quarter, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in the province was 9,044 yuan ($1,394) and per capita consumption expenditure was 5,583 yuan.

The per capita disposable income of rural residents was 5,873 yuan, while per capita consumption expenditure was 3,189 yuan.
