Taiwan residents living on the Chinese mainland are actively registering for vaccination as the mainland recently began to offer them the same COVID-19 vaccine access as their mainland counterparts, Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a news conference on Wednesday.
As of Sunday, 1,807 Taiwan residents in East China's Fujian province were vaccinated and as of Monday, 4,906 Taiwan residents in East China's Jiangsu province were vaccinated, according to Ma.
As of Tuesday, 1,836 doses of the vaccine had been administered to Taiwan residents in Beijing, 1,072 in East China's Zhejiang province, and 3,385 in Shanghai, he said.
With the expansion of the vaccination scope, more Taiwan compatriots on the mainland will sign up for vaccination, Ma said.
