April 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 11 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,704 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,644 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,361 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 283 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,642 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,682 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 324 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,007,223 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,633 were still under medical observation.
On April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on April 28, 329 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 318 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 28, 12,920 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,755 in Hong Kong (209 had died and 11,392 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,116 in Taiwan (12 had died and 1,050 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
