Japanese carmaker Nissan is planning to introduce nine electrified models by 2025 into China, the world's largest vehicle market.
Three of them will be pure electric, including the Ariya SUV, and six will feature its hybrid e-POWER system, said the carmaker.
“As China stands at the forefront of defining the future of mobility, we, as Nissan, are ready to drive forward with innovations in connected, autonomous, and electrified technologies,” said Ashwani Gupta, Nissan’s chief operating officer.
A variety of e-POWER models are available in the Japanese market. So far, over 500,000 vehicles equipped with e-POWER have been sold, said Nissan.
"We want our customers in China to experience the feeling of excitement, quietness and smooth acceleration of driving an electric car with the confidence and convenience of having a fuel tank to always rely on," said Gupta.
Makoto Fukuda, an executive at the joint venture Dongfeng Nissan, said the first China-made vehicle with its e-Power technology will be the Sylphy, which is expected to be unveiled later this year.
