On April 13, Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province officially launched a five-year campaign to strengthen Guiyang city's role as a provincial capital.
Over the next five years, Guiyang and Guian will focus on a new model of industrialization, a new model of urbanization and coordinated and integrated development. The two areas will boost domestic demand, improve public service quality and attract innovative talents.
According to the plan, Guiyang and Guian will achieve more than 700 billion yuan ($107.24 billion) of GDP, have an urban resident population of 7 million and an urbanization rate of 80 percent by 2025.
Guiyang and Guian will increase research and development, improve Guiyang's ranking as a national innovative city and enhance its influence on surrounding areas.
The two areas aim to become greener by promoting low-carbon and sustainable development methods. They will continue to improve their environment quality and function as ecological protective barriers in the upstream areas of the Yangtze and Pearl rivers.
Guiyang and Guian will also become more suitable for living and working, with high-quality public services and a good business environment. The two areas will also strive to increase the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents.
