The East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL), one of the most prestigious law schools in China, established its international school on April 12 with the aim of further developing its international education offering.
The international school will initially deliver language and law programs, local media reported.
Guo Weilu, Party secretary of ECUPL, said at the inauguration ceremony that the international school will strive to cultivate more international law talents with a global vision and innovative capabilities.
He also said that the university will make full use of its international education resources to open up its law education facilities and cooperate with partner universities in order to cultivate top international talents.
Wu Yingjun, director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's international exchange office, encouraged the international school to explore further reforms in curriculum design for international students, and to become a new highlight of Shanghai's international student education.
ECUPL was first approved to receive international students with Chinese Government Scholarships in 2012. In 2014, it became one of seven universities in China that can receive international students with Chinese Government Excellence Scholarships.
As of March 2021, it has established cooperative relationships with 189 universities and institutions, as well as eight international organizations in 45 countries and regions, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Law Organization, the Asian Law Society, and the European Union of Law Firms.
The university also collaborates on two Sino-foreign cooperative education projects.
