From January to March, Beijing had 379 newly established foreign-invested enterprises. Its utilized foreign investment totaled $4.94 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 36.3 percent in number of companies and 32.7 percent growth in investment.
According to the city government on Tuesday, foreign investment in Beijing increased greatly in the first quarter, especially in the service sector, where the city's utilized foreign investment totaled $4.62 billion, or more than 90 percent of the total.
Liu Yinchun, deputy secretary-general of the city government, said that Beijing will continue to promote the opening-up of the science and technology innovation industrial chain with the target of building the city into an international center for science and technology innovation.
"We welcome international organizations, cross-border companies and other enterprises to bring projects to Beijing to embrace a better future together," Liu said.
