Zeekr, the new pure electric brand from Geely, is targeting to take a strong position in the premium electric vehicle segment, according to the company’s senior executives.

Earlier this month, Zeekr launched its first car the 001, the shooting brake electric vehicle, in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.

The model’s first deliveries are expected in October with projected sales of 7,000 for the year, according to An Conghui, CEO of Zeekr Technology.

An said that Zeekr will release seven new models in next three years for different segments, all of which will be aimed at becoming the best-selling models in their respective segments.

As part of its brand offering, Zeekr will take aim at the premium electric segment in China and in selected global markets, he added.

All the models will be based on the Geely Holding’s global electric architecture, SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, the carmaker said.

Likewise, the Zeekr 001 is the first model based on SEA and boasts dual electric motors, which allows a range of up 712 kilometers and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Unlike Geely and Lynk & Co, Zeekr will utilize different sales modes to meet the demands of the new generation, the company said.

Online and offline sales will become the backbone of Zeekr’s sales channels. This year, Zeekr plans to open two flagship experience centers and 60 Zeekr Spaces in downtown districts across China.

The company will also launch 36 delivery centers and 60 service centers this year. The Zeekr app will allow for the ordering of vehicles and interaction with other Zeekr users, and will be available in June.

Zeekr aims to bring convenience to users with the introduction of a Zeekr charging network that will bring charging speeds of up to 360Kw, giving the Zeekr 001 a range boost of 120km after just five minutes of charging.

So far, 290 charging stations are planned to be built this year with 2,800 charging piles. The number will increase to 2,200 charging stations with over 20,000 charging facilities in 2023, according to the company.
