The Hechi section of the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway has made good progress this year, with whole railway expected to be finished and open to traffic in 2023, at which point it will become the first high-speed railway to pass through Hechi.
By the end of February, a total of 5,177.35 mu (345.2 hectares) of construction land had been delivered, completing the land acquisition task.
A total of 245,600 square meters of land containing 608 households were demolished, completing 100 percent of the target. A total of 1.15 billion yuan ($175 million) was spent on land expropriation and demolition, accounting for 99.14 percent of the whole cost.
A total of 560.79 mu of land has been requisitioned for reconstruction and resettlement, accounting for 91.04 percent of the task.
Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway is 482 kilometers long, and passes through Jinchengjiang district, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county and Du'an Yao autonomous county in Hechi.
The journey from Nanning to Guiyang will be shortened to less than two hours after its operation, and the railway is expected to create new opportunities for the economic development of Guizhou and Guangxi.
