An online exhibition of paintings by a Chinese female artist was staged in Sydney, showcasing the glamorous cultural and historic heritage in the western parts of China.
The online exhibition, jointly launched by the China Cultural Center in Sydney and the Institute of Gongbi Painting, Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, featured art works by Jiang Weiling, a well-known Chinese female artist who was born in China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
As part of the Silk Road, Xinjiang is a great mix of various ethnic minorities and different scenic sights ranging from snowy mountains to deserts. Jiang, inspired by Xinjiang's rich cultural and artistic heritage, created unique works through her long term practice.
The exhibition, themed "The Fragrance of Spirit," will display 40 masterpieces by Jiang, and will be staged on the official website of the cultural center till mid-May.
The exhibition is also part of the ongoing cultural dialogue between Chinese and Australian female artists held by the cultural center in a bid to enhance Australian public's understanding of contemporary arts by Chinese females.
