Four "smart health" projects with a total investment of 2.26 billion yuan ($345 million) will be brought to Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, following a number of agreements signed at the third World Health Expo on April 11, according to local media reports.
The Tongji International Rehabilitation Medical Center Project, covering an area of 90,000 square meters, will have 800 to 1,000 beds and is set to cost 2 billion yuan.
The new facility will include an International Rehabilitation Medical Center, a Rehabilitation Training Center, a Rehabilitation Equipment Research Center and a Rehabilitation Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park.
Integrating the most advanced research results into clinical treatment will help provide superior support for patients throughout the course of their condition.
At the same time, improvements in production, education and research are expected to help drive the development of the rehabilitation equipment manufacturing industry.
The Liangyou Jiayi Internet + Medical and Health Central China Operation Center Project, which will be developed by Liangyou Jiayi Smart Medical Technology (Hubei) Co, will be primarily engaged in internet and information and communication technology, smart medical care, public health, discipline construction and hospital management, family medicine, chronic disease prevention and management, rehabilitation medicine and long-term care services.
Tottori Tuoming (Wuhan) Medical Technology Co will build a research, development and production base for new medical robots in WHDZ, including intubation bionic robots, endoscopic surgical robots, and laparoscopic surgical robots.
Of these, the endoscopic surgical robot project is a medical + AI high-tech project supported by special funding from the Japanese government. It has received 200 million yuan in funding and received 20 million orders worldwide.
Also, Zhun'ao Biotechnology (Wuhan) Co is to build a second headquarters in WHDZ, which will mainly be engaged in the research, development and sales of tool virus vectors and application strategies.
