Hechi made extensive efforts to promote 5G infrastructure construction in the first quarter of this year, with the hope of boosting the city's development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
5G infrastructure construction in Hechi achieved remarkable results in the first three months of 2021, with the 5G gigabit ethernet standard that supports a theoretical maximum data rate of one gigabit per second in 11 counties and districts across the city. The 5G network in Chehe town, Nandan county was launched on February 1, making it the first town to possess a 5G network in Hechi.
Despite the various difficulties faced during the 5G infrastructure construction period, such as a shortage of personnel and equipment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, China Mobile Hechi Branch managed to overcome these materials and personnel shortages and complete construction to schedule.
"China Mobile Hechi Branch plans to invest 220 million yuan ($33.6 million) in 5G construction, and achieve its goal of setting up 2,000 5G base stations this year," said Pi Lihua, Party chief and general manager of China Mobile Hechi Branch.
Hechi will realize 100 percent 5G network coverage in urban and town areas this year, as well as coverage in most villages, Pi added.
