April 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 11 indigenous cases in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 9 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 381 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on April 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,384 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,198 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 186 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on April 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,365 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,466 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 263 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 994,852 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,423 were still under medical observation.
On April 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new asymptomatic cases (5 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Yunnan). 5 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 5 cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 7, 291 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 266 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 7, 12,638 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,539 in Hong Kong (205 had died and 11,163 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 49 in Macao (48 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,050 in Taiwan (10 had died and 1,004 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
