April 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new cases of confirmed infections (9 imported cases, 4 in Shanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Jiangsu province; 15 indigenous cases in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 214 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on April 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,361 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,181 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 180 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on April 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 90,329 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,449 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 244 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 993,919 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,773 were still under medical observation.
On April 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (15 imported cases, and 2 indigenous cases in Yunnan). 4 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 13 cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on April 5, 304 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 277 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 5, 12,620 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,524 in Hong Kong (205 had died and 11,145 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,048 in Taiwan (10 had died and 1,004 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
