Vice-premier addresses forum on TCM, pandemic cooperation

Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan delivered a speech via video at the Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine and International Cooperation to Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic, held on March 30.

As a treasure of the Chinese nation, TCM has been deeply involved in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to formulation of eight versions of treatment protocols combined with Western medicine, the vice-premier said, adding a batch of TCM medicines and prescriptions have proven to be effective in practice.

She also said China shares its experience in pandemic prevention, control and treatment with TCM without reservation, and is willing to work with other countries to deepen cooperation in terms of the basic theory, clinical efficacy and international standards of TCM, so as to promote complementary advantages and mutual learning in traditional and modern medicine, serving the health and well-being of humankind.

Politicians and government officials from 28 countries and regions including Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina, as well as representatives and experts of the World Health Organization, attended the forum via video link.
