Suzhou New District announced on March 23 that it will begin offering free COVID-19 vaccines for the general public, local media outlets reported.
The vaccines are currently the most efficient and effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as China is still facing several thousand confirmed cases.
The vaccines, which will be paid for by the national finance and medical healthcare insurance fund, are recommended for people aged between 18 and 59. Previously, the vaccinations were limited to those who work in high-risk areas or have plans to work or study overseas.
The vaccines being used in the district are the CanSino vaccines, which require one shot; the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines, which require two shots; and the Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products vaccines, which require three shots.
