Qualifications:
1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and be both physically and mentally healthy.
2. Applicants must have obtained their bachelor's degrees. (For graduates obtaining their degree in 2021, they should submit a pre-graduation certificate to guarantee that they have the competence to complete their studies and acquire their degree by July 2021.)
3. Language requirements:
(1) Chinese-language programs:
Applicants to the liberal arts or business schools must have passed HSK 5;
Applicants to the science departments must have passed HSK 4;
Applicants from Malaysia, Singapore and other countries that use Chinese as the education language do not need to submit the HSK test result.
(2) English-language programs:
For applicants who are not from English-speaking countries, the minimum requirement is TOEFL 85, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 100.
Application and Enrollment Steps:
1. Log in and apply via the online application system: https://istudy.nju.edu.cn. The following documents will need to be uploaded:
(1) Physical Examination Record for Foreigners; (南京大学外国人体格检查记录.doc)
(2) Bachelor's degree certificate (this year's graduates can first provide the expected graduation certificate);
(3) Transcript for the whole bachelor's program;
(4) Two letters of recommendation from professors in your academic area of study;
(5) HSK certificate (for Chinese-language programs) or TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo test result (for English-language programs);
(6) A scan of the first page of your passport;
(7) Chinese immigrants to other countries also need to upload their naturalization certificate and the annulment document of their Chinese residence registration.
* If one of the original documents is neither written in Chinese or English, please also submit a notarized Chinese or English translation.
* The applicants are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the submitted information and documents. If any dishonesty or falsification is found, the application will be deemed invalid.
2. Nanjing University will select excellent students based on the applicants' materials and each year's available majors and will inform the applicants of the admission progress via a system message or email by the end of June. Due to the pandemic, the university may need to delay posting the Admission Notice and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form). Please pay close attention to our updates.
3. Those admitted need to go to a Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for an X (study) visa with the received Admission Notice and JW202 form.
4. The admitted students should come to the Institute for International Students with the Admission Notice, the Physical Examination Form (valid for 6 months) and the JW202 form for registration, in accordance with the registration date noted on the Admission Notice. (If some students are unable to come to NJU on time due to the pandemic, the university will arrange an online registration process, details of which would be informed in advance.) Those unable to register within those dates will need to submit a request for leave in advance.
5. When coming to NJU to register, new students will be required to bring the original copy of their highest diploma for the qualification review. If the original copy is neither written in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation will need to be submitted. Those who do not pass the review will not be permitted to register.
