A special exhibition lifted its curtain on Tuesday (Mar 9) in the Capital Museum in Beijing to honor the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

About 280 artifacts -- including old photos, manuscripts and items that witnessed the pivotal events in the early years of the Communist Party of China -- were put on display.

The artifacts span the New Culture Movement and the May Fourth Movement in the 1910s that nurtured the atmosphere of communism in China and the birth of the Party in 1921 throughout the decades of revolutions and the War Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) to the founding of New China in 1949.

According to organizers of the exhibition, the display aims to reflect how the Party has caught up with the times in a great journey. And the exhibition will be a hub in Beijing for the general public to learn the history of the Party for the key anniversary.

Apart from items from the Capital Museum's own collection, many exhibits are on loan from archives, museums and memorial halls nationwide related to the history of the Party.
