BEIJING -- China will always support developing countries, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Over the past half century, China has been committed to maintaining an international system with the United Nations (UN) at its core and an international order based on international law, Wang said at a press conference on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress.
Wang made the remarks when asked to comment on the 50th anniversary of restoring the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the UN.
A member of nearly all inter-governmental organizations and a signatory to over 500 international conventions, China is the second-largest contributor to the UN peacekeeping budget and the largest peacekeeping troop contributing country among the permanent members of the UN Security Council, Wang said.
China champions equity and justice, and stands for equality among all countries regardless of their size, Wang said.
