The fourth Silk Road & Young Dreams (SRYD) has officially launched, calling on young people from all over the world to participate and show their talent.
With a theme of "Rural Revitalization, Green Development and International Cooperation" and a sub-theme of "Winter Olympics", the event will promote people-to-people bonds, and enhance exchanges among the youth in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Meanwhile, it aims to highlight youth responsibility and enrich the meaning of pragmatic cooperation under the BRI.
The fourth SRYD will build bridges for young people to connect through six competitions including speech, music, photography, sand painting, sculpture and startups. Young people are encouraged to elaborate on their understanding and suggestions for poverty reduction, the Olympic spirit and sustainable development from an innovative perspective.
The Silk Road Youth Start-up Competition is a new addition to the event this year. Looking at China's successful poverty reduction cases, the participants may analyze advantages and limitations, or design startup plans according to local resources. In addition, the organizing committee will organize lectures, sessions and field research to enrich the event.
The fourth Silk Road & Young Dreams is guided by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, and also hosted by the Silk Road Cities Alliance, China Friendship Foundation for Peace & Development, Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, China Nationality Culture Foundation, and Beijing Belt & Road Cooperative Community.
The fundamental goal of the project is to provide the youth of countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative who have different backgrounds and dreams with a stage to shine with talent and potential, a platform to feel the pulse of the present era.
Held annually since 2018, the event has seen the registration of more than 1,000 young candidates from 100 countries, and is also supported by the embassies, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and mainstream media.
The preliminary and final for all the competitions will be online, and an offline awards ceremony will take place on Aug 12 .
