East China's Fujian province plans to boost its digital economy and promote the construction of a "digital Fujian", according to a local news report.
Fujian first began pursuing digital development in 2000, and throughout the past 20 years the province has played a leading role in the digital transformation of China. The provincial government has been making efforts to accelerate the digitalization of multiple fields in the province, providing new impetus to Fujian's high-quality development.
Statistics show that Fujian's digital economy has grown rapidly in 2020, with its added economic value exceeding 2 trillion yuan ($309.23 billion), growing by 15 percent year-on-year. Over the past year, an array of digital service platforms has begun operating across the province, including the Minzhengtong and eFuzhou apps.
The rapid development of the province's digital economy has strengthened the transformation and upgrading of Fujian's government services, the construction of its information infrastructure, and its industrial digitization and digital industrialization.
Fujian's top provincial official said that more efforts will be made to develop the National Pilot Area for the Digital Economy in Fujian and increase the added value of its digital economy to 2.3 trillion yuan by the end of this year.
