On March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Sichuan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 112 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

There still remained 177 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 979,880 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,043 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on March 3, 12,052 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,046 in Hong Kong (200 had died and 10,578 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 958 in Taiwan (9 had died and 926 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
