March 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Sichuan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 112 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 5,040 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,875 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 165 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on March 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,943 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,130 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 177 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 979,880 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 5,043 were still under medical observation.
On March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on March 3, 247 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 244 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on March 3, 12,052 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,046 in Hong Kong (200 had died and 10,578 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 958 in Taiwan (9 had died and 926 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
