Hainan to launch global search for executives

Hainan Free Trade Port will recruit top experts from around the world to promote construction in the island province, officials announced at a news conference held in Haikou, Hainan, on Monday.

The first round of recruitment involves three positions, including chiefs or legal representatives of the tourism promotion bureau of Sanya city, the development bureau of the bonded port area in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone and a logistics company under the State-owned China Hainan Rubber Industry Group.

Zhang Yingduan, deputy head of the organization department of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, said both domestic and overseas candidates can apply for the positions.

Hainan is in urgent need of international experts with global vision and advanced management experience, Zhang said, adding that global talent recruitment will drive the Hainan Free Trade Port project forward.

Last year, China released a master plan for the port, aiming to build the whole of Hainan Island — which is 35 times the size of Hong Kong — into a globally influential, high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.

The plan provides that foreign personnel are allowed to act as legal representatives of statutory bodies, government-affiliated institutions and State-owned enterprises in Hainan FTP.
