Feb 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Guangdong province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 18 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 358 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,990 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,828 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 162 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Feb 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,893 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 85,039 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 218 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 978,249 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,294 were still under medical observation.
On Feb 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 7 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 5 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 257 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 249 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Feb 27, 11,985 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,983 in Hong Kong (198 had died and 10,519 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 954 in Taiwan (9 had died and 917 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
