Northeast China's Jilin province has recorded good progress in its cross-border e-commerce, with transaction volumes hitting 3.36 billion yuan ($521 million) in 2020, according to local media reports.

The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.

Of this total, cross-border e-commerce retail imports and exports amounted to 970 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 178 percent.

In 2020, the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce vigorously promoted the quality and efficiency of cross-border e-commerce across the province. It also continued to cultivate new growth points in foreign trade and find new momentum for high-quality trade development.

Jilin city was approved as a national cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot area, and Hunchun city was approved as a cross-border e-commerce retail import pilot city.

Cross-border cargo charter flights were launched between Changchun to Seoul in 2020, and the Jilin-Zhejiang cross-border e-commerce operation center project was officially put into operation.

Jilin province deepened its cooperation with well-known cross-border e-commerce platforms. In 2020, there were a total of 417 Jilin-based companies on alibaba.com, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent. Intensive online and offline promotion of cross-border e-commerce policies and training activities benefited some 1,000 people.

This year, the Jilin Provincial Department of Commerce will continue to focus on the construction of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas, promote the joint development of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas in Changchun, Jilin, and Hunchun, and increase efforts to support enterprises to diversify and launch well-known cross-border e-commerce platforms.
