SAIC Maxus launched four light passenger vehicle models on Sunday, in the hope of continuing the momentum it has gained over the past years.

Launching four models--the EV90, the V90, the V80 Plus and the V80--at one event shows the joint venture's capabilities in research and development, said the company's executives.

The EV90 is developed based on the European Union standards, with 273 tests. The model can choose the 88 kW battery pack, which enables a driving range of 400 kilometers.

The V90 features SAIC's 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine, generating a top torque of 375 Nm. Coupled with a six-speed transmission, it has three driving modes.

The V80 PLUS, among other things, has a 4.2-inch liquid crystal dashboard and a 10.1 console screen. It also features such things as parking radar.

The V80 is equipped with SAIC's engine and consumes 7.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.

The executives said that SAIC Maxus' customization has made its models popular in their respective segments.

The 10-year old company has sold 300,000 light passenger vehicles across the globe. Last year, its family of wide-body light passenger vehicles saw their sales soar 83.8 percent year-on-year, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

SAIC Maxus said its products are available in 48 countries and regions. They are especially popular in such markets as Australia and New Zealand, the United States, Europe, the ASEAN countries and the Middle East.

Its customers include the Royal Mail in the United Kingdom, the FedEx in the United States as well as JD and SF in China.
