The Wuxi-Xuzhou Industrial Park started construction in Xuzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, on Feb 24 as part of an effort by the two cities to strengthen cooperation.
Wuxi and Xuzhou, respectively located in southern and northern Jiangsu province, have been cooperating in high-quality development for many years.
The Wuxi-Xuzhou Industrial Park is sponsored by the Wuxi National Hi-tech District and the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone and will be located in the core area of the Xuzhou Railway Business New City. Agreements for a total of 18 industrial and financial projects were signed with the industrial park during the ceremony.
Cooperation will be further strengthened between the two cities in education, health, science and technology, agriculture, and tourism, and more resources will be shared between them, according to officials.
Xuzhou Party Secretary Zhou Changgen attended the groundbreaking ceremony and said he hopes the two cities will develop an even stronger relationship. He also said that the new industrial park is a pilot project for cooperation between southern and northern Jiangsu.
Wuxi Mayor Du Xiaogang said that the new industrial park is expected to take advantage of both cities' industries and will provide a multi-level platform to carry out cooperation.
Du also visited some leading industrial companies in Xuzhou after the ceremony, including Xuzhou XCMG Mining Machinery Co Ltd, where he was impressed by a lot of high-end manufacturing equipment.
