Wuxi's job market steadily regained its momentum in 2020, with about 155,600 urban jobs added throughout the year, outperforming the planned provincial target by 1.48 times, according to data released by the local government on Feb 24.

The city received awards for being the top Chinese city for attracting talents and promoting employment during the 2020 China Best Employer Annual Award Ceremony last November.

Officials noted that Wuxi has issued various favorable policies to attract people to move to the city and work there. The city has worked with top universities, colleges, and institutions to allocate innovative resources on a larger scale and with higher efficiency, to give full play to the ability and potential of each person.

In 2020, the city dispensed 660 million yuan ($102.3 million) in unemployment insurance, price subsidies, and unemployment subsidies, which effectively guaranteed the basic livelihood of the unemployed.

Officials said that the city would support innovation and entrepreneurship, while maintaining a high-quality of living and business environment, aiming to make the city more attractive to top Chinese and international professionals.
