The 2021 Shanghai Mobile World Congress opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Pudong New Area on Feb 23 and will run until Feb 25.
This is the first time that the MWC has consisted of both online and offline venues as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, the Shanghai MWC is expected to receive 20,000 in-person attendees and hundreds of thousands of online attendees from more than 100 countries and regions.
Online attendees will be able to access the live conference and partner content online, according to the global telecom industry association GSMA, the organizer of the MWC.
The key phrase for this year's event is Connected Impact, which refers to the ways in which the entire digital ecosystem continues to transform lives and support the recovery of the global economy.
Technological visionaries from more than 200 industrial giants, including Huawei, Qualcomm, and Samsung will give keynote speeches and participate in panel discussions.
GSMA also launched The Mobile Economy China 2021 during the congress, pointing out that China maintains a global 5G leadership role and forecasting that 5G will account for almost half of the country's mobile connections by 2025.
