On Feb 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Hunan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 33 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 440 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Feb 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,939 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,754 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 185 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Feb 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,842 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,805 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 401 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 976,500 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,832 were still under medical observation.
On Feb 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 21, 309 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 271 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Feb 21, 11,858 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,868 in Hong Kong (197 had died and 10,389 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 942 in Taiwan (9 had died and 893 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
