Located in Bazhong city, Sichuan province, the Nankan Grottoes, the representatives of the peak of Chinese grottoes art in the Sui and Tang dynasties (581-907), boast a history of more than 1,300 years.
Built up to along the mountainsides, the grottoes are home to more than 2,700 Buddhist statues, the grand scale and exquisite craftsmanship of which bring out the splendid local cultural heritage.
