Feb 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 8 in Guangdong province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 48 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 828 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,885 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,651 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 234 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Feb 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,788 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,547 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 605 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 974,607 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 9,643 were still under medical observation.
On Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 387 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 286 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 11,773 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,788 in Hong Kong (193 had died and 10,207 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (46 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 937 in Taiwan (9 had died and 859 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
